The RAM OIL 280 MP industrial vacuum cleaner, featuring a capacious of 74 liquid gallons tank, is widely utilized for cleaning CNC machine tanks. It excels in both cleaning speed and replenishing oil lubricants-coolants within the tanks, efficiently vacuuming metal shavings and swarf.
Professional-grade suction power is generated by 3 powerful by-pass motors activated by a single switch, ensuring exceptional vacuum speed and efficient liquid replenishment. The vacuum cleaner’s tank features a convenient quick-release metal basket for efficient separation of solid and liquid components. With a 150-micron filter, it achieves more effective filtration of swarf. With an externally mounted pump, the tank can be rapidly emptied, leaving no residue behind. Since the pump is mounted externally, the full capacity of the tank can be utilized. The vacuum cleaner comes standard with the oil and chip accessory kit and includes a convenient accessory basket and two hose holder hooks.
To prevent overflow, an electrical level indicator within the container automatically stops the airflow once the maximum capacity is reached. The vacuum cleaner comes equipped with a pivoting suction inlet and the perfect oil accessories kit as a standard feature, specifically designed for vacuuming CNC machines.
The RAM OIL 280 MP industrial vacuum cleaner is a reliable and versatile solution for efficiently cleaning CNC machine tanks, with features designed to enhance performance and ease of use.

The suction power is generated from three by-pass motors within the vacuum system. Each motor is individually controlled by its own switch, granting the operator precise control over the intake performance. Housed within a robust casing, the motors are accompanied by an insulating sponge to effectively reduce noise levels, creating a quieter working environment.

The gathered liquid passes through a PPL filter with a 150µ efficiency, which enables the separation of even the tiniest solid particles. This process ensures that the filtered liquid becomes suitable for reuse. The filter is designed to be easily washed and reused. Additionally, there is an alternative disposable TNT filter with a 100µ efficiency that is also available.

Enhanced for effortless maneuverabilit. Move around freely without twisting th sump vacuum.

To discharge the tank, the vacuum features an externally mounted pump, maximizing the container's full capacity and guaranteeing thorough emptying without any residue.

Get answers about using the RAM OIL 280 MP for high-volume CNC sump cleaning, coolant and cutting-oil recovery, metal chip and swarf separation, liquid filtration, powered pump-out, coolant recovery workflows, and choosing the right RAM OIL sump vacuum for machine-tool maintenance.
The RAM OIL 280 MP is a high-capacity CNC sump vacuum designed to recover coolant or cutting oil together with metal chips, swarf, fines, and other settled machining debris.
Three bypass motors provide up to 326 CFM of airflow and 98 inH2O of maximum vacuum through a 2-inch inlet. The machine operates on 110 V / 60 Hz single-phase power, allowing it to provide substantial sump-cleaning capacity without requiring three-phase electrical service.
Its 74-gallon liquid tank and 11-gallon solids capacity make it well suited to larger CNC sumps, repeated machine-tool cleanouts, and maintenance routes where smaller sump vacuums would require more frequent emptying.
An external discharge pump allows recovered liquid to be transferred from the vacuum after collection, making the RAM OIL 280 MP especially useful when coolant needs to be moved to another container, disposal point, filtration process, or back toward a machine after its condition has been evaluated.
Yes. The RAM OIL 280 MP is designed specifically for mixed liquid-and-solid recovery from CNC machine sumps and other machine-tool tanks.
It can recover coolant or cutting oil together with metal chips, swarf, machining fines, and suitable settled debris during the same cleanup process.
Larger chips and swarf are separated from the recovered liquid by the internal sieve-grid basket, while the liquid passes through the filtration stage before reaching the main tank. This allows maintenance teams to remove mixed sump contents without first pumping out the liquid and then manually removing all of the chips separately.
The application should still be reviewed when the sump contains unusually heavy sludge, extremely fine metallic particles, abrasive material, reactive substances, flammable liquids or vapors, hot fluids, or unknown hazardous contaminants. Those conditions may require additional filtration, a different recovery method, or specialized equipment.
The RAM OIL 280 MP combines solid separation, liquid filtration, and powered discharge in one CNC sump-cleaning workflow.
During recovery, metal chips and swarf are captured by a removable sieve-grid basket while coolant or cutting oil continues into the liquid-filtration stage. The standard liquid filter provides approximately 150 µm filtration to help remove smaller suspended contamination before the liquid enters the main tank.
An electrical level system automatically stops airflow when the tank reaches its maximum operating level to help prevent overfilling.
After recovery, an externally mounted discharge pump can transfer the collected liquid out of the 74-gallon tank. Mounting the pump outside the tank allows the full internal liquid capacity to remain available for recovery.
This setup can support coolant recovery and reuse workflows, but the 150 µm filtration stage is not a complete coolant-conditioning system. Coolant concentration, bacteria, tramp oil, fine-particle contamination, chemistry, and process requirements should still be checked before recovered fluid is returned to a machine.
Choose the RAM OIL 200 MP when a smaller high-capacity sump vacuum can handle the machine tanks being serviced. Choose the RAM OIL 280 MP when greater liquid capacity, greater solids capacity, and longer cleaning cycles between emptying are important.
Both models use three bypass motors and provide up to 326 CFM of airflow and 98 inH2O of maximum vacuum, so the primary difference is not suction performance.
The RAM OIL 200 MP provides approximately 52 gallons of liquid capacity and 9 gallons of solids capacity.
The RAM OIL 280 MP increases liquid capacity to 74 gallons and solids capacity to 11 gallons. It also uses an externally mounted discharge pump, leaving the full internal tank volume available for recovered liquid.
The better choice therefore depends primarily on CNC sump size, coolant volume, chip loading, frequency of cleanouts, required transfer workflow, and how often the operator wants to stop and empty the machine.
The RAM OIL 280 MP may not be the most efficient choice when the machine sump is small enough to be serviced by a more compact M100 OIL, M130 OIL P, or RAM OIL 200 MP.
It may also be undersized for facilities cleaning very large CNC tanks, servicing multiple machines in one maintenance cycle, or recovering substantially more than 74 gallons of liquid before emptying. In those applications, larger RAM OIL 500 MP or RAM OIL 1000 MP systems can provide substantially more liquid capacity.
The RAM OIL 280 MP should also not automatically be assumed suitable for flammable liquids or vapors, reactive chemicals, hot fluids, unknown hazardous mixtures, or hazardous classified locations.
Final selection should consider sump volume, liquid volume, chip and sludge loading, fluid chemistry, temperature, flash point where applicable, hose length and lift, required pickup rate, discharge destination, coolant-reuse requirements, frequency of cleanouts, and the operating environment.
